How To Look 10 Years Younger By Changing Your Hair
Even when you're meticulous about your appearance, the wrong cut and color can still add years.
Too Short
If you hair is healthy and plentiful, there's no reason to wear it really short just to make it more appropriate for your age group.  A lot of women still look better with long hair, even as they move into their 40s and 50s.

Instead: If you do go short, keep it slightly shaggy. You'll look more modern, and the maintenance will be easier without blunt lines. You should definitely soften the look of your hair as you get older.  Use a Styling Spray, such as HerStyler Styling Spray or a Serum, like HerStyler’s Hair Serum with Vitamin E to nourish the hair and add shine and bounce.

Too Long
If you hair’s length is too long, it can drag hair down.  This has the effect of pulling your features along with it.  Sort of the opposite of a face lift. The worst offender is the long, parted-down-the-middle, shapeless and/or straight look – like the one everyone wore back in high school.

Instead: To keep some length, consider a choppy bob that sits just below the collarbone.  A more tausled look, or wispy waves, will draw attention to your hair and away from wrinkles.  Since longer hair can look dry and frazzled, treat it weekly to a deep conditioner.  We recommend HerStyler Nourishing & Moisturizing Hair Mask.

Too Dark
If you refuse to give up darker shades that you had when you were younger, this will definitely age you as you get older.  Very dark hair against a light scalp makes any hair thinning much more noticeable. Believe it or not, dark hair also casts shadows on your skin so wrinkles look more pronounced.

Instead: Go two or three shades lighter with either permanent color or highlights around your face. Or opt for a warmer hue: For example, if you are a cool, dark brown, choose a creamier chocolate instead.  Be sure to use a hair color that covers gray well.  You may need to experiment here, but it won’t take you long to find the perfect color and shade.  Be sure to use HerStyler’s Nourishing & Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner to keep your hair healthy if you color it.

Too Light

Going too light just gives you a washed out look.  If you notice, many of the movie stars, performers, entertainers and singers, that were a bright blond, have gone darker as they age and they look great!  You will find that you will need less makeup too if you go a shade or too darker.

Instead: A bit of contrast can give your skin a healthier glow.  Like we said before, just keep experimenting until you find the perfect color and hue.  And remember to condition, condition, condition after every shampoo!

Too Drab – Gray hair with no enhancers.

Instead:

If you decide to stay 100% gray – make sure it isn’t a yellowish gray – There are finishing mists and shine sprays on the market to prevent this and make your gray shine through beautifully! Also, color your hair a light shade of blond and see the brilliant difference!

Too Extreme
If you have too sharp a cut or too much of an outstanding color, this can also make you look years older.  It’s like wearing too much of the current style or wearing too much makeup.

Instead: It is important to update your hair style periodically.  But don’t be constantly changing to keep up with current styles.  Look at other people your age, friends, family and even stars and see what they are wearing.  Try to emulate the styles they wear that you like.  Your stylist will be happier if you bring he/she a picture of what you want – it will make it easier on both of you.  Another way to look younger is to have bangs.  Especially if you didn’t have any before.  Bangs should be full and not thin as these could age you.  You can also sweep your bangs aside  - this is also a great look that can make you look younger.

Whatever you decide – just be comfortable in your hair style and you will feel confident and feel years younger too!
